Question g52 gearbox help I think ive worn out a syncro.

ok if some one has had a simlar post tell me where so i don't waste any ones time.

but 3rd gear in my hilux crunches when i change from second as far as i know thats a sure sign the syncro is stuffed, am i right? i havn't had any expereance with gearboxes so i don't even know what one is but i think im about to find out the hard way. i need to know what is involved to fix one and how hard it is to repair.

ive acesss to a gbox out of a rt142 and a auto out of a ra6x will the splines line up? and is the conversion worth doing in order to avoid fixing the g52. please help. i'll go search google now but i trust toymods more.

try this before changing the gearbox oil. Replace the gear oil with new oil.
Run a 75/25 of manual gear oil and auto gear oil. Usually on small cars they do a 50/50 but i think that might be too much for a truck.
It may sound stupid but i've seen it fix some crunching boxes. Its also cheaper than buying a new box.

if that doesn't work try more gearbox addative to stop crunch Moories somthing i can't rem but supercheap stocks it.

Give that a go before you start taking the box apart. It might work as my friend did that first in his Hilux when he had crunching problems. His went away.

i'll try that tomorrow i think ive got some fuches gbox oil in the shed. at the moment im running a nulons product and it isn't doing any thing but ive only had it in the box for about 50hrs / 30km's so maybe i havn't left it for long enough.

If its new oil don't waste it, just remove some and add the auto fluid.
Its always best to have new oil before adding and additive

Was this a sudden change, or has it been getting worse gradually?
How's reverse?? clutch drag will make getting into it pretty horrible, and over work the usually well worn 2nd gear syncro.
If it just happened, then different brands & viscosities & freshness
    won't do anything.
If its almost always been that way but slowly getting worse, then lighter/thinner oil may help.

syncronizers just wear out, rarely break, and don't 'blow'!

the oil is pretty fresh so i'll drain some and add some auto trans

i though it was pretty sudden it never did it off and on it just started up on thursday and did it every on change. all gears are alittle bit hard but isn't that the charicters of a g52?
reverce is hard but i hold it in place and ease the clutch out and it selects every time. i'm already running fuches from last gbox oil change so i'll use a bit of the same stuff with some auto trans because that sounds like what u recon i need to do. if all this doesnt work what should i do concidering i dont wanna spend heaps.

if all things fail, this is your opportunity to upgrade to a w5x series gearbox

did they come out in the rt142 (w5x)? and i think some one should do an artical on how to buy a 2nd gbox off unknown quality confedently. cause i have a rt142 gbox but i have no idea if it is any good.

the g and w series are interchangable. Just a matter of swapping over bellhousings, and tailshaft housing.

Popular mod with g52 gearboxed hilux's.
