bled air out of it?
hey guys.
pulled the crane out to start swinging motors around again and the ram wont lift the arm.
its a china supercheap item (TWN imports one) was brought new and had been used a few times them folded up and stored for 12months, so it hasnt done SFA work.
oil seemed a bit low so i topped it up with hydro oil. also its still in as new condition and has no obvious external oil leaks, may have been low out of the box, not sure.
when you pump the handle the arm lifts about a inch, then when you pull the handle up to go for the next pump the arm lowers a inch (SO YOU GET NO WHERE FAST!!!).
the arm is able to be lifted by hand.
seems me to me that these a 1 way valve in it thats fubar. if someone has experienced a similar problem or is a hydraulic expert feel free to make a suggestion of something i can try. will be calling around some shops tomorrow.
thanks
bled air out of it?

how do i do that?
in my "manual" it says
however there is no picture to look atIt is possible that that air has got into the hydraulic system, causing poor lifting performance. Purge any air from the system by fully opening release valve (turn handle counter-clockwise as shown), then while holding the boom down, operate pump handle rapidly several times.
give it a crack?

i have my manual and it doesn't mention a bleeding procedure! talk about slack.
thanks, ill give it ago!
the old man was mucking around with it making shit worse lol. gave it a bleed as you described, same as before.
took the ram off the crane, if it has no load at all it will fully extend, if you put any pressure on it and try and keep pumping it stops extending and just pops up and down a few mill.
pull it apart and take the seals to your local bearing place to match up with replacements. Ask for viton (it will cost a little more) and you will never have to replace them again.
Hate to ask the obvious but you screwed in the release valve yeah? If so sounds like it might be leaking.

If possible check for foreign object in release valve causing it to not seal

might be low on fluid.
...... butt scratcher?!
im thinking that there are probably more seals inside i wont be able to get at, id rather do this then buy another replacement one made out of chinese babies.
old man had it out and put it back in, ill have anotehr look myself but it doesnt seem a problem there as if you extend it then apply pressure (i was hanging off the end of the crane arm) it wont compress, it stays solid.
ive tried the bleeding prosedures as mentioned by olds at the start of the thread a couple of time, is there another way to bleed?
it was low but has been topped up. no visable leaks appart from a little weeping from around the pump seal but it was like that the first time i used it when it worked.
yeah mate, ofcorse it was screwed in![]()
Try the bleeding procedure with the oil filler cap off

tried that the order night, made no difference.
took it to a hydraulic place, they are going to look at it tomoz and let me know whats wrong and costs. really need it soon as i need the engine in so i can figure out other parts that i need to order, buy, make.
or get a replacement ram?
