Default 22re performance mods...... wanting to gain that litle bit extra....

    hey

well i just picked up a rt142 corona for 300 buks.... its a 22re with irs and w55 box...

its set up as a basic drift car.... but it just doesnt have that power there.... well for the dry anyway

i dont want to do an engine conversion and if i do go dow the road of forced induction i dont want to run much boost at risk of blowing the engine plus i want budget mods if i go more boost i need bigger injectors...

what im thinking so far is puttingan sc12? 4agze supercharger on.... with a stock side mount cooler dodged up as a front mount....

would this work? anyone done it before?

i was origannly thinking sc14? off a 1ggze..... but cant find one cheap enough...

i havent ruled out turboing it.... but i can see a supercharger being the cheaper option

also is there any other mods you can recomennd to get a few extra kw's out of it??

cheers... p.s i tryed seaching but nothing on 22re performanceapart from the show car corona.....

What have you done to your suspension?

Here is a link from a quick search i did, that shows you can drift with the mighty 22re with minimal mods

get an air compressor in the boot, and on full throttle inject the compressed air into engine!!!

Apart from the really simple stuff, like a filter, bodgy exhaust and winding some timing into it, I wouldn't bother...save your pennies for suspension work, and then an engine conversion. 1G is uber cheap, and makes twice the power...

    do what mullet said...
get plenty of cold air to the intake and get plenty of exhaust out the back, advance timing a smidge, block off EGR,

can mod the AFM and put a 5M throttle body on too, just search for guides.

    Hi,

Cheapest mod is to do nothing.

An RT142/22RE combination is not a performance item, and considering you forked out only $300, I can't see worth spending a single cent on it would provide any benefit - especially if you plan to trash it.

correct its a pile of shit. but i need more power to skid the track in the dry.....

im thinking exhaust/extractors if i can get them cheap. and an sc14 supercharger should give enough power to bag second in the dry.....

You're not going to get enough to make any difference, you'd need 30-50% extra power to make a real difference. Long as it's rock hard and got a locker, it'll slide if you can drive it. Use the length and the inertia, make sure the front Tyres are sticky and run them at 30psi cold, crank the rears to 55+ psi (whatever the 'max inflation pressure is on the sidewall) and go nuts.

i def's dont need alot of power to skid.

but to skid good and link mallala you need atleast 150hp....

    its a long sweeping track...

on the street its rad can skid it anywhere...

just i know for experiance to skid malalla "properly" and have fun you need a little more than what a stock ish 22re has......

i found a vid of a charged rona.....

im guessing it has an sc14 on it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjXJtMyrknI

seams to do pretty good..... anyone seen it before? have pics of how the charger is mounted? or seen one with a charger and have pics???

these would be awesome if someone did.... i think ill prob go down this path with a cheap second hand front mount and a sports exhaust...... should be enough to fry the rears.....

22r's don't take kindly to boost, mainly in the head gasket department
