Ideally it should be at least 12" away from turbo outlet (anywhere nearer requires heat sink), and is positioned on the upper half your exhaust pipe(9 o'clock - 3 o'clock).

Should it also be clear of where the Ex.WG gases merge??
Before or after or not an issue?

Shouldnt make any difference, but to be on the safe side, go after the merge.

Ideally should be after the merge, but I have no issue with my external wastegate and screamer pipe :-)

Because ive got a single turbo setup, the o2 sensor is currently on the bend before it goes down following the firewall. Im just going to take the O2 sensor out and put the wideband in there. Its roughly 12 inchs maybe alittle bit less.

    should be alright fellas?

If the sensor overheats from being too close to the turbo you can make a heatsink for it.

You'll be alright, just put a heat sink on the o2 sensor to be on the safe side.

Make sure the WB02 clear the lowest point of your car, it can't take much your cressida's weight thru the bumps.... :-)

As long as, as CHB said, "is positioned on the upper half your exhaust pipe(9 o'clock - 3 o'clock)".
This keeps the tip of the sensor pointing downwards in the pipe, and will help stop it from rusting.

Placing it after the cat changes the reading, so have it before.
