Search the web for Skyline brake upgrades.
You used to be able to buy 350mm+ upgrades for R33's off the shelf.
Which should bolt on with minimal mod.
Alright the standard option for x8 Chassis is R32 GTR/R33 GTST Calipers with disc to match be it FORD BA or what and rear seems to be R32GTR / R33 GTST Calipers with JZX100 Discs
NOW what if we wanted to take this one step further? what are some ideas out there to use and how would you go about it? the reason i ask is im thinking about moving everything from my Black JZX81 (the mods above) to my white JZX81 and upgrade the brakes to something bigger on the black one
Diameter Hight Thickness Min Thickness Center hole Stud
Cressida Stock Front 256 68 22 21 60 5
Rear 272 66 10 9 60 5
JZX100 Rear 307 67 16 15 62 5
Ford BA 298 65 28 26 71.5 5
Supra TT Front 323 50 30 28 62 5
Rear 324 67.5 16 15 62 5
FORD FPV 350 50.5 32 30 71.8 5
Skyline GTR R32 Front 294 54 32 30 68 5
Skyline GTR R33 Front 324 53.75 30 28 68 5
370z 354.6 49.5 32 30 68 5
Here are some specs i have been looking at as you see im looking around the 350MM mark for the front this car will be a circuit car and hill climb car so brakes ae important the calipers im looking at running would be depending on what Discs i use like i was thinking if i ran something skyline on the front i would run F40/F50 brembo on the front or even run Ford FPV ones.
But yeah anyway best options out there people? mind you i can use two peace rotors like call DBA and ask them for two peace rotors running r32 GTR hats with 350MM disc and so on to
Can a MOD please move this back to the Tech and conversion section not this please![]()

The obvious 'bolt-on' caliper would the R33/34 GTR Brembo's, you'd need to source a suitable rotor ~324mm with a ~65mm height (to match the BA rotor).
The XR6 T rotor is 322x28 with a height of 68mm.
Not sure if you would/could mill the difference off the caliper?
Not of much use, but on my BMW I have used TT JZA80 rotors (323x30) with Porsche 996 Brembo's, being mono-bloc they are very light, and radial mounted they are very easy to move in/out (shim the spindle) and up/down (shim the caliper) to suit slightly different rotors.
Im Currently running r32 GTR Calipers and Discs (Night pager Kit) the caliper has a spacer im yet to check disc, will do tomorrow if this does not have a spacer on the disc i will just get r32 discs to 350ish mm and find calipers to suit thinking F50 caliper or a GT3 Caliper but also looking at willwood calipers as there decent priced i was advised the other day the ford BA/BF brembo calipers are the same spec as the F50 can anyone confirm this? been trying to find info and can not.

I think they are called the 'Gran Turismo' Family B calipers (also known as F40's, F50's, Porsche 'big reds' etc...):

and some cute Family A caliper for the rear:

Both radial mounted which is handy/easy to make brackets to suit almost any disc you can fit.
And a good price for 'brand new' (esp. with the AU$ worth ~$1.35 NZ)
And some delicious BREMBO GT-R race calipers:

So let me get this right Radial mount is where the mount goes through the caliper via the top? and the other mount is just like stock calipers via the side?
and NZ is cheap but how would i go about shipping to aust?
What mount is this
and what is this mount?
just trying to clear things up so i understand
[Gentlemen's Club]
Axial mount is any mount that is in the same plane as the axle (ie, across the car)
Radial mount is any mount that is in the same plane as the radius of what you are mounting too (ie, perpendicular to the axial mount)

as CrUZida said + axial mount is often referred to as 'lug mounted' calipers.
So you can see how easy Radial mounted calipers are to adapt from say a 323mm rotor onto a 340mm rotor.
Shipping shouldn't be any hassle, provided the seller gets the $$$, most would send anywhere, just ask.
Thanks for your help guys,
I guess it is now down to me finding the right caliper to match up to either my r32 GTR style disc or get onto ford rotors or something![]()

Well sorry to bring this thread back up but here you go F40 calipers on X81 struts disc are 330mm

[Gentlemen's Club]
what are u guys doing to the bmc to support the bigger callipers

Most of the time the larger calipers still have the same piston cross-sectional area, so there is no need to upgrade the master.

yes but the std calipers only have one piston so i recon it would benifit greatly from a larger bmc
take the s13 silvia for example they use a bm33 and when upgrading to 4 pots its best to use the bm44 ut off the skyline or when using gtr brakes you use the bm50
is there a bmc upgrade for the x8
