It's mixed bag, sometimes they accept it. Otherwise they'll want an engineer on the VicRoads approved list to engineer it.
Hey everyone,
There is a half secret going on with my new project car,
I'm buying it from ACT and it has an engineers certificate, everything has been done correctly to the RTA approval of the company that did it. It has the Gt4 brakes, 3sgte motor, 16" wheels and Carlos sainz bonnet vent, These have all been included in the engineers certificate which it passed..
What sort of issues would i have to get it registered here,
I don't see why the engineer certificate wouldn't be applicable, after all it was done at a RTA approved engineer..
Thanks
Adrian

Talk to an engineer in Vic. I have heard before that an interstate certificate has absolutely no relevance here.
Sure, an engineer may take it into account and only need to do a brief inspection to satisfy himself that everything's kosher. But Vicroads simply wont care about it and tell you to get an engineer to approve it.
However as I said first, talk to Vicroads (13 11 71). Them and a certified engineer are the only people to take this sort of advice from.

Get everything from VicRoads in writing where possible. You seem to get a different story every time you call them.![]()

Just spoke to one of the engineers that vic roads authorise and he said there is no problems about it, as long as nothing has changed with the car since then there will be no worries..
I think the worst case scenario is that I could ask him to speak directly to vic roads and confirm it..
Stupid system, i mean why should one car be ok to be driven in one state, yet another doesn't allow it to happen..
Does that mean one state cares less about safety than the other?
They should have just an Australian Traffic Authority and nothing else, none of this "VIC ROADS CRAP".
just a case of they have different priorities.Originally Posted by trd-st162

Mine was fine, i had my GZE which was engineered in ACT, and it was transferred over to Vic with the new buyer without any hassles.

This is what vicroads told me when i brought Takai's car back here.
As long as it is engineered, and registered with those engineering modifications in another state, and the rego is transferred from there (ACT) to here (MELB) - they don't give a toss. I had to take mine down for them to look at the VIN and engine number coz of an anomally on their system... but if yours comes up sweet it shouldn't require anything at all.
That and vicroads people know nothing- Make it at dandy vicroads if you want to be extra sure they know nothing
