Default Toyota Crown manual gearbox housing

I want to fit a manual gearbox behind a 2.8L 4MU 6 cylinder Toyota Crown engine and am wondering do I need to start with an actual Toyota Crown manual housing or is there other housings that will do the job.

What gearbox are you going to use?? you will need a M engine bellhousing to what ever 5 speed you want to run.

I have a W50 with a M bellhousing from my crown sitting around

I have no idea as yet, I have another thread asking what is a good 4 or 5 speed gearbox to us and what I am seeking is a gearbox that has the gear lever as forward as possible.
10 years ago I had a 1966 Crown with the same engine that I want to mate the gearbox to but no longer have the manual greabox or do I know what type of 4 speed it was.
Which 5 speed gearbox would you suggest and yes I'd like to purchase the case, you can PM me with a price and I can arrange the payment and for others this what I found on google :

W50 - Often called the "steel-case" transmission for its steel shell, in contrast to the later W-series transmissions' aluminium case. This transmission is mostly associated with early Celicas of the 1970's. It is also shorter from the bellhousing face to the transmission mount than the later aluminium case W-series transmissions, despite using the same mount.

Ratios - First Gear: 3.287:1, Second Gear: 2.043:1, Third Gear: 1.394:1, Fourth Gear: 1.00:1, Fifth Gear: 0.853:1, Reverse: -4.039:1
    Applications - 1976-1981 Toyota Celica

What Crown do you want to put it in?? I had to move the hole back in the floor of my MS53 to get the W50 to fit nice as the factory 4speed came up a fair bit closer to the dash.

I want to use the engine and gearbox in a 1946 Dodge pickup so we will build the floor to suit the gearstick position and we can position the engine forward a little when mounting the engine and gearbox.
I've asked locally about a reconditioned W50 gearbox and was told $1,100 or $800 for an exchange unit. PM me with what you want for the housing.

Update:? A fully rebuilt housing and a W50 gearbox was purchased for 500.
