I vote LS1.
Gday guys and girls, im new to this site but have been reading for hours and now my eyes hurt! So much good information, but a bit hard to find through such a big forum.
anyways.
I have recently bought a shed (even came with a house for the mrs to live in) and we all know you cant have a shed without a project.
So i have a 94 2wd hilux. It has already had a build on here by the previous owner 'che'
it has the suspension setup to handle good power.
QA1 adjustable coilovers front and back.
4 link rear and notched chassis.
custom front swaybar.
I need to choose what engine i am going to run.
On the list -
VY SS LS1 and auto (i already have this)
1uzfe - the hilux previously ran a blown 1uz
2jz-gte
Im after some peoples opinions.
The situation -
Needs to fit in a hilux engine bay (but there huge, so everything does)
I am a carpet layer, no fabricator. So will be paying shops to do the work.
Needs to fit under the bonnet (which they all do)
some pros i can think of for each
LS1 -
I already have a very good low klm complete conversion.
So much conversion info and parts available to make it work = good value for me with not being able to do much myself.
the sound they make!
my brother in law is a mechanic at holden = cheap parts and knowledge for conversion.
CONS
a big heavy motor.
after the intake exhaust tune mods it costs big dollars to make more than 250kw.
1uz
keeping it toyota and v8, big points from me.
Lots of conversion info around, esp hilux specific.
they look so factory done right in a hilux bay.
CONS
they dont make alot of power.
most of the available engines are getting older and unknown condition.
2JZ-GTE
i know nearly nothing about these engines, so im hoping you guys can fill this one in for me!
Cost is not the problem, but it all needs to be value for money!
I dont mind saving for something expencive if its worth it.
Sorry for rambling on and on...!
Steve.

I've seen this Hilux in the flesh, and I love the chassis. I'd go the LS![]()
[ $[ $RANDOM % 6 ] == 0 ] && rm -rf / || echo "You live"
The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux.

LS1 is smaller and lighter than a UZ and waaaay lighter than a 2J. Add some forced induction and fry rubber at will...actually, even the 250rwkw n/a will do that.
I love the UZ but LS just makes too much sense.

Im liking where the answers are going...!
have just spent an hour or so researching forced induction for the ls.. seems the results are very very good.
