    Default 4age 20v + supercharger

    Hi all,
i recently bought a ae111 levin. And well, its had a good life as n/a... i was going to throw a new set of pistons and rings in it, reco the head, etc etc, due to dropping a valve, but i would like your opinion whether its worth it? or if someone has already done it, i was contemplating on getting a 4agze blown engine with accessories and brackets and using that to do the conversion.

    Thanks in advance

the SC12 is a pretty weak little supercharger and everyone that i've spoken too says they are pretty crap. Having one myself and comparing my NA to my GZE, the GZE obviously goes better but it does feel like it runs out of puff.

Your better off either going for an SC14,which many people do and have very good results purely cause its a bigger sc'r. Otherwise the best option is turbocharged. I wouldnt bother putting an SC12 on.

Forget the SC14, they are a dying breed with no real way to repair them anymore. (I bought the last rear bearings in Australia a while back).

Go for an Eaton M62 from a Compressor model Mercedes. It is far more efficient, has spare parts available and is clutched like the SC series.

Ebay has them, rebuilt. Just have to contact the seller for postage.
My GZE in the Levin will be getting one once my other silvertop Levin is back on the road.

Probably a bit off topic but what are the dimensions of the M62 like compared to an SC12? I'm sure many of us running SC12 GZE's would be interested in how you go with this, especially any options it opens for improving the intake manifold on the GZE.

CAPA : Eaton Superchargers gives imperial dimensions.

Thanks for the reply guys, the reason why i was looking at supercharging it, was i got given a toyota supercharger, only finding out today that it is an sc14... it spins, no grinding, and the clutch works... also i havent seen a fully rebuilt 20valve supercharged as of yet.. easiest way to get the sc14 on the block of a 20v?

I believe the lower mount will fit, you just need to get an upper mount fabbed up

Nope, supercharging a 20v will require a fair bit of custom work, intake needs to be looked at, fueling, ECU, clutch actuation. The ST plenum is plastic too isnt it?

wow... i found a few links on bolting the sc14 to a 4age... to me, this looks like a mission.. i know you guys said wouldnt both with the sc12, but if i put the hks pulley upgrade on both the supercharger and the crank, it should be running like 15psi?? so what i have heard?

these were the links ive found:

    SC14 onto AW11gze

Toymods Car Club Inc: Tech & Conversions => SC14 with 4age?

to be honest, it looks like a lot of stuffing around..

well the standard plenum on the 20v is metal, but its massive, so was going to keep the quad throttle bodies, and creating a custom plenum that would be like a cylinder along them, therefore, enough room underneath the intake for the 4agze 16v supercharger setup, and have no intercooler as the intake would be super sort anyways.

Running an SC14 any where near 15psi will leave you with some high discharge temperatures. If you plan to go without an intercooler, then you will be seriously limiting your power potential and be constantly running near the detonation edge.
