when i worked at toyota they pulled the tubs off to fit alloy trays everyday, im sure they will go back on with no problems.

we used to have extra cab tubs stacked up 5 high lol as everyone seemed to want them in tray form but they werent delivered as a cab chassis so the tub had to come off first

awesome! thats really great help, im thinking of getting a new single cab lux, but i want the colour coded tub, rather than alloy tray and all the work mates seem to only come with the tray

has anyone actually got a single cab with a tub and got a pic ? i can see it in my mind but cant recall seeing one in real

    thanks everyone

If you want to fit bigger tyres under the back use a 4X4 tub which has bigger guards.

    A 4x4 single cab tub?

Is the single cab tub longer than the xtra and dual cab? All the duals I've seen look short? Could be the cab size deceiving me

They are all different lengths, it will be hard to find a single cab tub because they can be ordered as a cab chassis from the factory so every one who has fitted a alloy tray doesnt have a spare when the tray is fitted.
Your best bet will be to find someone who has a single cab tub and wants to swap for your tray.

That's exactly what I thought. Cheers

Another question, the 4x4 have flared guards from what I can see the flares are glued/bolt on. Which means they all use the same front, and a add the flares? I'd like to add flares to mine

you used to be able to buy aftermarket bolt on flares (like the sr5 ones) which would suit the 2wd guard, afaik the genuine toyota ones only suit the slightly flared 4wd guards. i got em from a local 4x4 mob.

you can also get aftermarket chrome grills for cheap through crash suppliers and a chrome bar from someone who has fitted a bullbar to their sr5 for the full look. i never bothered with the headlights but it still looked pretty good for a base model

(dont mind the bent up front)

try some of the places the make steel trays in your area.
there are a couple here locally that make trays and keep the tub as the owner normally doesnt want it back
you will normally get it for the cost of a carton or two of their favourite drink especially on friday afternoon

when you do fit the tub, attach some sturdy tie-down hoops in the bottom corners and sides of the tub. Makes for more secure strapping of things into the tub.

If you wanted to get really sensible, get some removable ladder racks. so you can shift long things in the ute without them facing skywards and/or scratching the rear roof of the cabin.
