    Default Toyota Techstream TIS

    Anybody familiar with Toyota Techstream?

Looks like you can do a lot of security type stuff like reprogramming keys etc. Do you know if it can be used to disable immobilizers?

there is nothing that can disable immobiliser on most toyotas
someone in nz has managed to bypass 1uz vvti ones but u cant disable it but u need
to figure out how to replicate the signal from the original key

u need the toyota security dvd hehehe very hard to find unless u have special friends hehehehe

A GOOD aftermarket scantool can also reprogram keys and do most of what the toyota tool can do.

yes look at brands like hannatech or global scan
    or launch 341
expect to pay afew grand for basic unit and add more for extras.
i got the hannatech but need to be upgraded soon to do cars after 2008
but now alot of new cars have smart keys and some scanners wont do them,
so u need special tools to just do the smart keys

Yeah, the work tool is a g-scan, it is the same unit that kia and hyundai use from factory. I think it is up around the 8k mark for the package that work got. It does the smart keys for the new toyota's too, did a 200 cruiser about a week ago. They work the other way around than the other keys from what i can understand, you tell the car to recognise this key rather than progam what the car wants into the key. Or that might be just the way the g-scan displays stuff on the screen.

Techstream cable is available at some $50 off ebay.
As for immobilizer, depends on car model and year.
Like dumbass said, you won't be able to disable it in most cases. But you can program another key into it.

This is particularily useful with early immobilizers like the one found in 1uz vvti. Signals between key amp and ecu are not cyphered so within same system they are the same all the time (key is not encrypted in other words).

So you can quite easily build some kind of emulator for one particular key. And then with appropriate scan tool you can program this key code into many other ECU's. In this case, profit is that you don't need full set of ecu, key, key coil and key amp so you can offer swap kits at sweet price

    it depends

if u have external immob ecu then its abit easier as the engine ecu has same code
but if immob ecu is inbuilt in engine ecu then each ecu has unique code,
ive got some chip readers but useless on toyotas as no one knows how to reflash the immob chip on the ecu
so u can turn off the immob
programming keys is easy and most time u dont need scan tool

dumbass - with 1uz vvti there's only one flash chip in engine ecu. The external unit does not store any code , it just sends and reads data.

In many swap cases scan tool or flash chip programmer is the only way to go. It's possible to program additional keys without them when you have master key and some set of body computers all communicating over MPX line - because typical actions include opening and closing doors for example.

I was originally thinking it might be an easy work around for an immobilzer on an import engine if you dont have the keys etc.
If you could hook up using techstream and just switch off the immobilizer.

no in most cases you won't.

but in some cases this is the only way to read trouble codes. for example USDM 3uz-fe and JDM 4GR-FSE don't offer displaying em with warning light

techstream is just toyotas scanner for the laptop
    cant do anything to fancy
anyway for the fk around with 1uz vvti motors if u cannot buy
the key and everythig for it to start just save the money and buy a non vvti
then spend abit on it to go better

my kit will include ECU and additional unit built in it to fool the immobilizer
Will be ready by mid summer when at leat two will be installed and tested

I think it's too somplicated now to send it to UK. So the guys better buy full set of everything :-)
As for now I'm planning to use it only on cars made in our workshop. So no one would burn ecu and claim that my kit does not work
