2T-G Blocks - Design Question

Problem: Mechanical fuel pump on hybrid died, replaced with electric.... now have redundant fuel pump bolted to block which I want to remove.

Solution: Need a blank-off plate (BOP) (as its a 3T block) to cover the hole up so I can take out the old fuel pump.

Question: I think from memory, the 2T-G block (that my dad has now thrown out ) was 88220, but had 88261 head fitted with EFI gear, so therefore had a blank off plate on the block. So, does anyone have information which will help me get hold of another BOP - any information on which block models had the BOP, a toyota part number, or any other information (or even if someone has one lying around, PM me). River, you got any exploded drawings?

I know it wouldnt be that hard to make one, but I really would like to keep it looking factory, and measuring off a fuel pump would be a PITA because of the bit that sticks out (you know, the thingemebob, I dunno what to call it) and I dont want to get hole centres wronng and end up with leaks (which is half the reason I built a new engine - bloody oil leaks!). Anyones help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Go to the local wreckers and get one of another toyota, for a while there toyota just used blanking of plates on alot of there engines that had diffierent intake options with the one style of engine (efi vs carbi). Alternativly go to a toyota jap importer and they will most likley give a chick one for nothing!!!!

cut the pump arm and put the old pump on with fake hose! for that factory look!
redline make block offs for diffrent types! they may have one the right shape or make on or get one made! easy and cheap then paint it to match factory i.e black block.

hahahaha but my block is purple!! And the mechanical fuel pump looks really stupid just sitting there with no hoses going to it.....

hahaha purple then! you could always cut the pump arm and then drill and put a straight piece of pipe threw the pump and connect hoses to new pump for the mega factory look!lol

Hmm its a good idea but I think I still wanna take it out. Its a pain in the ass to get your arm around when youre trying to play around under the carbies (dont ask why....)

And I dont know if any old toyota BOP would fit? Toyota is renouned for its rediculous amounts of design changes (maybe not on sleekas but landcruisers are PITAs!!!)

well, i had this same issue. take a fuel pump gasket to a machine shop. Pay your 10 dollars and get one made out of aluminium. Problem solved. You were kidding when you said you wanted it to look original right. The engine is purple for crying out loud. If you have issues, I may be able to get one made for you. But seriously, there'd be a hundred metal workers closer to you that could do the same thing. Plus, being a shiny bit of metal means you could put a sticker on it! ...Or just paint it purple to match.

most passenger toyotas will use the same bop, i worked at importers for 6.5 years fitting engines, and done this sort of thing all the time, its straight forward as you can get.

18R GEU, 3T GTE, 2T GEU to name a few prolly the same on the 22R E, etc etc. A quick scout of the local wreckers will sort you out

And when I said I wanted it to look factory, I meant I didnt want a big-ass square plate with two holes drilled in it hanging off the side of my engine. I would just look stupid!!

River has given me a contact at Toyota who is good at finding old parts apparantly, so I will see how this goes.... if its a ridiculous price, I will just have to make one I guess.

ring Andrew V (forum sponsor "central vic auto parts") he will most likley have one he can post to you and he will know exactly what you need as he has very good knowledge of these engines as he has rallyed a TE37 corolla with a 2TG in it for a billion years. These engines are fairly commonplace on the Toymods forums.

I agree with contacting central vic auto parts - or contacting people here.
