Default How critical is a tight sealing vacuum hose?

Just a question about vacuum hoses. The original hoses where 3mm. I replaced all of them with 4mm, becuase thats all they had. The hoses don't fit as tight as the old ones did, and can be slid up and down on the fittings. Would this 1mm difference cause a problem with vacuum leaks? How critical is a good sealing vacuum hose?

    Thanks!
    Kind Regards,
    Kurt.

You could always buy some tiny cable ties and use them to hold the hose on tighter. It's sairly critical as most of these vac hoses control or influence idle so if some leak it will make a few things possibly play up. It may also increase fuel consumption and may make the car stall on occasion.

For a temporary fix it should be fine and i don't see any huge long term effects other than what i have mentioned.

Would the actual volume of the hoses make much difference (assuming the fittings had no leaks?)

dosnt have to be tight like a fuel hose but you dont want it to come off! just buy some very small cable ties as has been said! will be fine.

I just thought when using a hose with a bigger interior diameter it would take longer for the air to reach the MAP sensor and other vac-hose items. But I guess the difference would be extremely small.
