I swapped the extension housing on my a340, but it was already a slipper yoke version - no 3 prong thing to remove.
Hi
I have a 1UZ v8 auto trans with the numbers 30-41 LE on its ID Plate, can the extension housing and the IRS 3 bolt yoke be swapped as a unit to a local 2wd yoke so I can bolt up the slip jointed shaft. It has two speed sensors on the housing and is secured with six bolts, looking at the diagram I have of an A340 trans it appears the extension housing comes off with its shaft.
If the answer to the first question is yes, what model do I need to source a yoke and housing from; or even better is there someone on here who has one. I live in Sheidow Park, SA
Cheers
Rob

The extension housing will be an easy swap. To change the shaft you will have to dismantle the transmission. Good luck with the sensors

stuck my head under a later model hilux the other day and it had a four bolt flange and the slip yoke was in the tailshaft, also is the mount in the same place as the Celsior one as I have made my chassis and X member to suit the Celsior mount and if the mount is in a different position it wont work, I guess a trip to the boneyard may be in order here.

Madmont you must have been writing your reply at the same time I was. How far into the trans need I go? Is it just a matter of sliding out a clutchpack and removing a circlip to swap the output shaft over?
You mentioned sensors, I have two for speed sensing for the ECU, are these also on the hilux tail housing or can I use the output shaft of the hilux in the Celsior housing?

I had to change my extension housing on the trans i put in, because even though they were both slipper's the mount on the under side was different.
I don't think you can change the tri rubber IRS mount for a slipper yoke - without changing the output shaft.
Yeah I expect to need to change the shaft due to the prong on the end, the hilux flange would foul on it I suspect.
You might be better getting a trans with the slipper yoke already on it - or get the triangle flange put onto a slipper tailshaft?
The flange off the Hilux A340H will bolt on although you will need a different seal . you can cut the prong off . The hardest part is getting hold of the flange.

Which model hilux has the A340H so I can go looking?
