Default Forged pistons for n/a Gen 3 3S-GE?

Firstly, yep I've googled this. Extensively

I'm rebuilding a Gen 3 3S-GE to put in my ST162, and while there are any number of brands to choose from as far as forged conrods go, I can't find any of-the-shelf forged OEM-replacement pistons. It seems all that is available is low-comp 8.5-9.0:1 turbo slugs, or 12.0:1+ high-comp race jobs. I'm after a set in 10.5:1 or thereabouts, anyone know of anyone that makes such an item or am I going to have these things custom made?

    Thanks
    Matt

Wossner do them, dunno how google missed them.

Oops, just reread about not wanting 12cr, need to check what thickness hg thats to suit, you could fit a thicker hg to drop the cr a bit. Any if the gen3 mls good name brand hgs to suit gen3 3sgte will also be fine for the ge.

having said that, any of the piston companies that make 3sgte pistons can make them to suit what ever CR you want. it's not a full custom piston and you'd still get them for a reasonable price.

contact http://rsrace.com/store/index.php and ask them. let them know your after a package with eagle rods, cometic HG, acl bearings and ARP gear and they'll do a good price in my exp.

Yeah I'd seen the Wossner pistons, they only seem to do high-comps off the shelf though. Thanks for letting me know about RSP, wasn't aware you could custom-order stuff to go in their package deals, I'll follow that up. +rep for you

yeh, you could do that also, but i don't think a 0.9mm HG would get you there.

other q is, do you need forged pistons? the stock gen3 already has 10.3:1, once you deck the block and face the head and fit a HG to suit you could easily have 10.5-11CR.

I got my forged pistons made by Special Piston Services (SPS) in Victoria - very happy with them.

Yeah I had given that some consideration, once the block and head have been done I'll make some measurements and see if that's the most viable option.

Probably not, it's not going to be a racecar, I'm just going with a "do it once, do it right" sort of ethos, factory spec but with better and lighter bits. If however, the cost ends up being prohibitive I'll just use the factory pistons.
