Default Are RDA brake rotors shit?

As subject… Will be 90% daily driver use with the occasional track day… Using Bendix ultimate pads.

As compared to say DBA... which are apparently quite hard to get hold of in my application...

    Thanks all

In short yes. they crack and warp easily. Well in my experiance with them anyway.
but in saying that it depends on the use, if you abuse them they die easily (and often) but are fine for a daily driver.

Im assuming it's for the MA61 in your picture? shouldn't be too hard to get DBA's I wouldn't think

Back when the faildub was supercharged - 102rwkw and rcomps couldnt cook them. I boiled my fluid after 20 laps (castrol super Dot4), but the pads (ebc redstuffs) and rotors (RDA slotted) were fine.

With almost double the power at the last trackday i ended up boiling the fluid, cooking the pads, and warping the rotors.... but I hardly think that is the fault of RDAs being shit

In summary, they were more than fine in my experience.

I've done about 16,000km's on mine and they are fine.
Although I've not yet done a track day.
But for daily there is no issue.

RDA747's(? ST204) on dina are wearing better than toyota discs with TRD black pads.. so far 35-40,000km but getting close to end of life.
never had them warp or crack, they wear more evenly, and don't surface rust anywhere near like what the genuine discs did.
and for less than $50 a disc

it may depend on which particular disc, and if they sourced from somewhere different? but same for some DBA's..

I had RDA Slotted in my A70 boat. discs were fine on the street and still fine after a number of motorkhanas.

RDA are good, no complaints and they are popular as all fuck with the trade.
If they were genuinely shit you would hear more complaints

Probably not as good as DBA but certainly just as good as OEM

    Thanks guys.

My MA61 uses 326mm subie STI front rotors- I have had RDAs on them, and they warped, but so did the genuine brembos i had. I have since seen the lgiht and changed the pads this time (duh)

I did a few track days on them and they didn't seem to crack...

The DBA4654 STI rotors seem to be hard to get through my work (only cost me $140 each) but I can score a set off ebay for $180 each.

Dunno whether to be cheap and get the RDA, or go with tried and trusted?

    Thanks for the responses

i'm stunned by the responce from this, I expected more people against them
It is more then likely just with the specific car my experiance is with (which was a track only KE70) which had a terrible track record when using RDA rotors

good to learn they aren't complete rubbish!

I've had rdas crack on the corolla, but more than likely related to not doing a cool down lap or two .....

    that was using ferrodo pads

Well DBA/RDA are good for daliy cars. But for the Evo, GS300 and Soarer which I pushes the car to brake harder they thend to warp over time using Bendix CT/OEM pads (using DBA4000 for the GS300, Soarer and 5000 for the Evo which cracked). Stick to the 2pcs setup to reduce the chance of cracking (4-6x more expensive) or get the discs cryo dipped to get the maximum out of them. But for the price I would change the discs and pad more frequently.

I've got a set of slotted RDA discs and a set of Endless SSY pads on the Levin. They are all brand new and unused, but I'll soon find out how good they are once the car is running soon.

i had RDA's on my sw20 and one side warped, but that could've been for numerous reasons.

my bro inlaw bought his at the same time and are still going fine.

i fitted RDA's for the rear of my st165 with st205 brake upgrade. handled the collie track day fine.
