Default 3RZ turbo advice, basic low boost set up for 4x4

Just after any tips and advice for a turbo set up on a 3RZ its a 2000 twin coil engine. Original engine has done just over 300000kms but if compression test comes out OK I don't want to touch it apart from new timing chain. Motor is in a 1993 hilux 4x4 and basically just want a little more power and torque.

So far the parts I have are:-

TDO5 15g turbo off an EVO7 GTA, yeah its only small but I only want to run 6-8psi and its twin scroll will spool quick
EVO 7 injectors think there 440cc bolt straight in by the looks
Sard rising rate fuel pressure regulator
Fuel pumps are sorted with surge tank, pick up pump set up already fitted.
Making own topmount exhaust manifold from steam pipe

Will probably get a Haltech sprint 500 ECU so I can use most of the original sensors and get rid of the original ECU and MAF sensor etc
Looking at a small PWR water to air barrell intercooler, front mounts to laggy and I don't want scoop in bonnet for top mounted air to air
will have snorkel set up for cold air intake and mandrel bent exhaust.

Anything I should be aware of, any advice?

    cheers.

    1) Boost is addictive.
    2) There isn't a second worthwhile piece of advise I can offer...

Look to do something with the engine's crank case ventilation system.
You'll get extra blow by with boost, especially on an older engine and if you don't vent it correctly, the gasses can take some oil mist with it. Those hot gasses and oil, depending on if you vent them back into the turbo's intake, can coat the intercoolers internal surfaces and reduce the intercoolers effectiveness.
Oil will also cause even more carbon build up in the combustion chambers that can cause pre-ignition and knock issues.

You just mean an oil catch can type set up mate? I will be doing one of those anyway for all the reasons you mentioned. Cheers

very torquey engine all it needs is boost for up top and that psi you are looking at is nice but Id be worried about the rings after those kms but you might be fine. Yet new HG with rings and hone would guarantee a much longer lived engine unless you can set it all up and build another 3rz on the side for the future.

Hi Liteace I did a compression test and its not real good so just going to drive it around while collecting all the parts and making manifolds etc then pull it out and rebuild it and fit turbo etc it should be ideal for what I want hopefully. cheers.
