    Default 1G Engine into 85 SA63 Celica?

I have a 1985 SA63 Celica and the tired old 2S-C motor has blown it's head gasket, im looking at putting a 1GGZE 2L Supercharged engine into it.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the conversion and modifications that need doing?
I heard that the Sway bar may hit the sump and that the cross member may not match and need a ra63 crossmember instead?

If anyone could, help it would be muchly appreciated

hey mate! ive just finished my 1jz swap in my sa63. 6cyls fit okay, radiator and sway bar are the two big issues. im getting custom sway bar made through Signature sway bars, and i modified the rad support to fit jzx90 rad with push fan infront of the rad. i had about 45 mm to play with...

most of the aftermarket engine mounts you'll find will suit ra60/65, the angle of the mounts are different on the sa cross member. you will need bigger fuel lines and the tank need to be modified, power steering tank can be mounted on the other side easily. for gearbox, use a w series (easy for mounts and tailshafts), then you'll need a bellhousing to suit. once the car drives, you'd need to seriously consider brake upgrade (rear discs from ma61), and.suspension upgrade. my front end dropped half an inch with the extra kgs.

not sure about 1g specifics, but the rest of the swap was done with factory toyo parts (bar exhaust and intercooler...)

oh and LSD too... heaps of aftermarket LSD centres for t series diffs out there... Im trying to research the fitment of an f series diff in an a60, that's a better option for a forced fed 6cyl

Stealth, have you got any details of your 1JZ swap?

I'm keen to find out more and how it effects the balance/handling of the car. Many people 'say' the engine is too long and heavy, but few people know for sure. The easiest way I know is to look at it from the side with the bonnet open and find out where the front axle line, lines up on the engine. The further forward, the better, but at a bare minimum, it should be between cylinder 3-4, but preferrably on cylinder 1,2 or 3 meaning sitting back a bit.

Any chance of check it out? Maybe providing a photo?

Well at the mo it has standard suspension (coilovers are on order) and no front sway bar while that gets made up. SO yah. Its handles like a turd.
My phone got stolen so I cant get any pics James. My build thread is in my sig, havn't updated in a while, the car is driveable now, just need to sorta out a few kinks with fuel system so its not my daily yet, I'm still on the bike.

I can tell you just the extra weight with the extra 2 pots and the turbos etc has sat the front about half an inch lower on standard springs. I'm buying megan racing coilovers with 6kg and 8kg springs, both upgraded sway bars and new bushes etc... I'll let you know how it handles!
