Default 1uz ecu reflash dyno tune

hi there guys. I have a hilux with a 1uz. recently got new headers made up for it but its running a bit out of tune now. my exhaust builder was saying I may be able to get reflash and dyno done to improve it. does anyone know if this is possible and if there are any places to go in sydney. any help will be much appreciated

Stock ECU? Then nope, no reflash possible for the UZ ECUs unfortunately

Don't waste your time re flashing std ecu
    Can't do to much adjustments

Just save up and go aftermarket

The exhaust shop might have fkt something

Headers or bigger exhaust should not affect tune so I recon u have other issues

That's a new chip in the board, not a reflash. Half arsed in my view, but some are perversely convinced this type of thing is better than a stand alone?

I guess there is a place for them if the authorities are super strict and inspect for modded ECUs but where does that actually happen?

What this chip actually do is using stock ECU with factory program and new calibration maps. This has the same effect as reflashing those ECU's that do allow it (i.e. store their maps in onboard chips that can be programmed many times). I have no idea whether it can be of some use for one. I can see this is a cheapest solution available as you don't need to modify wiring and pay for the initial tune.

Yeah I am aware of what it does but it's not real time tuning and you are limited to whatever 'tweaks' the guy has done....which have been shown many times, in many different cases to be bugger all or a step backwards.

In this case, there may be some merit but small gains and what is the cost? Both initial and for further reflashes to get what you want?

Stand alone is just a much better option and likely not much more expensive these days.

I'm not aware of the actual price, on the page above it's listed at $1200 but I doubt it's up to date information. I personally prefer staying with factory settings. With a need for more power, I'd just go for bigger engine, up to VK45DE (assume street cars just don't need any more), as it's usually cheaper and more reliable than weaker engine + decent mods.

Good luck getting one of those Soarer ecu's, he only made a few of them and hasn't made any for years afaik.

Get an aftermarket ECU and be done with it.

Does the car have heated oxygen sensors? Sometimes headers mount the sensors too far down stream and they dont run hot enough and the ecu gets confused.

    Correct

And there is no "re-flash" for a stock 1UZ ECU no matter what model. If you can find a Mines ECU then all good but you can achieve the same with fitting a set of "Green top" injectors, good extractors and exhaust, Decent cold air intake and if you can get one an Apexi SAFC-II. You want more? then aftermarket ECU and lots of $$. I have the combination that I've listed, Good enough for me, Surf goes fast and anywhere and does give a few peeps a fright when something like that does leave them behind. It can just keep up with a Supra till 100 clicks.. You also need to consider your tyre size and diff gearing with the 4wds as if you get that wrong? Well you may as well have a 2.4 diesel in it
