    Default T series Differential Questions.

Hey Guys, Canadian in Australia. I've got a VERY specific question for you:

Backround: In North America we have two versions of the T series Differential (6.7").

    Versions:
-Early: 23 Spline. Spline is identical to S (6.38) axles. I've fit spider gears from both onto each other with no Problem.
-Late: ?? Splines. The late model AE86's came with an upgraded T (6.7") diff that was the same axle housing and carrier, but new axles with a larger splined area.

Question #1: Did Australia Ever receive the larger T (6.7") axles?

Idea: Back home in Canada, I raced a rotary powered Corolla wagon with an S (6.38") differential. I kept blowing up differentials until I swapped to a Mini Spool I found online. From then on the S (6.38") differential was super reliable with no problems!!! We tested my mini spool on Early (zenki) T series (6.7") Corolla GT-S axles and the spool fit exactly the same. The two different differential sizes used the same axle splines.

    Ideas:

RA60's and RT141's are peanuts cheap now that I am living in Australia and I'd like to run my trusted mini-spool again. They are $40 brand new. We had a 5mge turbo pushing 290hp through a this mini spool in a S (6.38") differential, on 10" wide wheels for almost 2 years with no differential problems.

Question #2: Is the RA60 T diff (6.7") the same 23 spline count as the North American Early (zenki) T series diffs? (6.7")??

Thanks guys! For those who don't know. Legend/Dwarf cars in North America use Toyota differentials for racing. They built mini and full-spools to fit them:

Default Re: T series Differential Questions.

Question 1: The 6.7" T312 diff came in the SA63 until Jan 1985 when they started making the RA65 with an F diff. The T282 diff came on the JDM AE86 in 1983 and got the larger axels in 1985 sometime...so the ADM Celica missed that upgrade. I think the ADM AE86 had an S diff only. The GA61 had T285 and T312 options but both would be before the larger axel cut off date.

The xT14x Corona, which came with F diffs or Borg Warner diffs. I know nothing about Borg Warners but I have a feeling that they have a larger spline than T diffs and i don't know why, I might have skimmed past that on a forum post somewhere? If they are the same as the T diff then all you need to do is make sure you get a pre-1985 ST141 to make sure it has the smaller axels.

Nothing else fits so AFAIK we never got the larger axel T diff in Australia.

Question 2: I'm 99% sure the axels (and therefore the splines) are the same and you could fit a Zenki AE86 LSD in an SA63. So therefore you could fit your mini spool to an ADM T diff.

I'm 100% sure you can NOT fit a Kouki AE86 LSD in an SA63.

I did months of research to see if I could fit an AE86 LSD centre in my own SA63. They were crazy expensive so I never bought one lol
