Default 2005 Camry Electronic Immobilizer/Ignition barrel question

    Hi All,

We have removed a 2005 Camry engine/loom and are installing them into another vehicle.

I was wondering how we can bypass the electronic immobilizer and rewire another Barrel or a start button into the existing Camry loom?

    Cheers,

    Rob

doesnt matter about the ignition switch
u can use any switch to crank motor and turn power to ecu
but u need to use the key reader and the key and engine ecu and immobiliser ecu from same car
its virtually imposibe to bypass the immobiliser

    do u have everything

if the camry had keyless entry, prepare to spend loads of money. Otherwise just run factory immobilizer system , as per above

Don't think the 05 Camry is keyless
I have an 03 and its just transponder key
Anyway either way its not to expensive to sort it out
Anywhere from 500 to 2000 That ain't expensive

    dumbass
mate's usdm '2001 LS430 is keyless (it runs immobilizer ecu built in steering column ecu, and seems like a number of other blocks is involved in authorization as well). I think by '2005 this technology could have been made available to cheaper vehicles

Camry used to be made in Australia not in Japan
I've got a 2007 aurion as well and that doesn't have keyless start
I have the Toyota security programming cd and an Australian spec Camry
Even up to 06 only has transponder key
There are not many cars that are sold new by car dealers that have proximity
    And some imports do

Toyota 200 series landcruiser has it and yes there is afew different communication lines for it all to work
Mitsubishi lancer I know has been afew years
Nissan elgrand is an import and after around 06 07 08 has proximity which I've done
I think some new Hondas or mazdas might have it too
Can't really think of many more

ok, so that must be specific to our region..either new or used vehicle for sale tends to have as many options as possible cause car must be cool rather than functional )) I got sort of used to keyless entry and pushbutton start as being ordinary things even on such old cars like said ls430

If Toyota Aus stopped making the Camry then Altona would be empty - it's the only car they still make here (Corolla went some 15 years ago)

If you want to be pendantic, Aurions as well as Camry hybrids.

I was under the assumption that wiring looms were factory and had no security related gear hardwired in; it is the ECU and any sub-ECU that provides the mechanisms for the transponder key.

Provided you have the correct key for the barrel, and the correct transponder for the ECU, it *should* work.
I was also under the assumption that you can transplant transponders between keys as well, so your transponder matches the ECU despite changing the barrel.

You could wire a start button, but realistically you will still need a way for the transponder to respond to the ECU, so to do it cheaply you will need to keep a barrel to insert it into before pressing the start button. As mentioned there are systems out there that could convert your transponder to a proximity system so you have true keyless start, but from a loom swap perspective, might not be justifiable.

most cars after 2000 ish started having immobilisers in em
basic toyota systems are like this
    key talks to keyreader
this sends signal directly to ecu
or signal goes to immob ecu then to ecu

u dont need ign barrel u just need to remove the keyreader thats on it
u just need key to be taped to key reader
well when i do em u dont even need key i just buy the transponder chip

there is afew ways around things if u dont have matching key

if u took it to toyota with all keys missing
they would replace engine ecu with new one
with toyotas u need the master key to program any extra keys

ive done a landcruiser motor with all keys missing and programmed a new key but was alot fo stuffing around

so i always tell people to get matching key otherwise could cost u up to 1000 bucks

Yeah my soobie has the whole immobiliser disarmed on transponder thing too. Hence why i mentioned the transponder is not dependent on the key's cut or ignition barrel, but you still need to figure out if the ECU or a sub-ECU relies on it, and how you can still get the transponder signal back to it to disarm. I was under the impression this signal was made through the actual key, not wireless etc.
