    Default AE92 Shifter Bushings

    Hi Everyone,

    Moar questions

I have a 4AGE 20V BT powered AE92 with a C52 Box and I feel that i would benefit from new shifter bushings. Problem is that I cannot find any for this car at all!

Can I use AE101 or AE111 bushings at all?

    Any help would be appreciated

I have a set of bearings that would probably fit in place of the rubber bushes for a tighter feel. Assuming you are talking about the bushes where the shifter cables attach to the gearbox.

Skateboard bearings fit well and get rid of a lot of the slop. You can't guarantee that bushings from an AE101/AE111 will fit though; despite the gearboxes being superficially the same the linkages can be different - I know that the AE92 C52s tend to have the same size bushing for both linkages however my AE102 C52 has one bushing much larger than the other one.

I know the AE101 E series boxes have funny sized bushes, which no bearings fit (not 100% sure on AE101 C series boxen), but the AE92 bushes are a standard bearing size.

be careful with non-rubber bushings, have seen 2 cars how where the shift cable has failed at the box end (crimped collar pulled off the cable sheath rendering the cable useless).

It's a massive pain to change the cables with the engine/interior in the car.

Yeah, just the daily. After Japan, I'll upgrade to the FT86 or whatever the equivalent is in a few years.

turn down some urethane or polyethelyne... not as solid as an alloy or brass, or bearing for that mater.. but better than rubber..

sometimes you think all these little mods are improving things, untill you drive a nicley setup stock one, then think far out.. that shifter feels good!

Shame I havent felt any stock ones before
I may just do that! I'm sure I could whip some up with some stuff from bunnings including a few small pieces of pipe to get the right size
