bump!
Hey all,
Needing some info big time on wiring diagrams for my mates GZ20 Soarer any one can help - PLEASE DO!!! ok so heres where we are at: Over the last 4 weeks myself and a few other mates have been doing a JZA70 1JZGTE halfcut engine transplant into my mates GZ20 1ggte <(pooey) soarer. All the mechanical side of things have gone a breeze, engine bolted staright up. Now we have approached the wiring part.
I have salvaged a part of the jza70 loom connectors to cut and shut out the ones inside the car ie where the engine loom interfaces with the interior loom, i am cutting off the 1ggte loom plugs and attaching the JZA70 plugs so the stock jza70 loom will plug in without modification. The problems i have encountered are I cant find any diagrams on the net anywhere with some information of the gz20 iggte wiring.
If anyone has done this conversion before and knows what i need, please to god help us lolor if anyone is just knowledgeable in this area please point us in the direction of some info so i can sort this wiring issue!
Also if this helps it is a higher spec soarer with digi dash, climate control, (these are my biggest concerns) no ABS.
The jza70 had ABS. No idea about the dash or A/C etc as the halfcut was sent minus whole dash.
Thanks everyone,

There really isn't that much to hook up, best of luck.

what do you mean high spec soarer
all of them came out with digi dash and climate control lollll
also look in the apexi website on the safc wiring diagram it will give u the pin outs for the 1g-gte engine ecu
Thanks for the help so far guys, i have already lookd up on the diagrams on 1jz-gte.us but no cigar so far. I have completed some of the wirign its just other stuff i can figure out. Like the 1ggte loom has a large yellow plug (about 25 pin) that seems to go to the dash but the plugs on the 1jz loom are completely different. If anyone has the 1ggte diagrams that would be awesome.
Cheers,
Hcope86 & Soarer_D00D
i can do the job for u for under 1000
or i can sell you some diagrams for 2000 hehehehehehehe
If your in the Newcastle area or you get really stuck give me a yell Iv'e done a few of them
Yeah its not too hard as i have done it myself, The only real issue i had was the speedo but that is all sweet now and i posted a post in the tech section called speedo problems or somthing which should tell you how to do it. look on the old toymods site in the repository. unless it is missing, which it now may be. That big yellow plug should only be 22 pins. You should also have a big square plug with some big pins down the middle, that will wire power to the motor, the onther one is basically dash stuff.
I have the files from the repository i may be able to give you. email me or add me to msn if you want to chat. What happened to the love from the repository? i can't find it.
Oh and for 600 i would do itBut you will need to buy a plane ticket.
!j will not plug straight in to a 1G loom so please don't try.

Hi thanks for the replys guys. Ima sorta learn as you go guy so im getting there slowly. All the engine Control wires are done (plug Ih1) its just the other crap i dont know, as ive really only done nissan conversions before (easy-as) and im not used to this we-will-integrate-everything-into-one-loom-cause-we-ae-gay-buisness
But for now ill wait till the water pump & timing belt are in, plug in the ecu and see if she starts!!!
Just a quick q for those of you who have done it, are there many wires on the soarer loom that you dont need to conect to the 1j loom?? or does all the wires have a home??
Cheers,

o and ndgcpr, you have PM
hey out of interest, does that big yellow plug look like this :

might help?
thats the main power plug, pretty sure if you wire it then it will start, the other one is for dash stuff.
And no you wont use every wire

In addition to the plugs inside, there is a plug at the front of the engine running to the fusebox. The 1G uses a 6 pin plug, and the JZA70 uses a 12 pin plug. Without this the engine won't start as the EFI relay is connected through it. The extras on the 12 pin plug are things like A/C lockup detector and clutch (3), Hydraulic fan radiator temp sender (2), alternator wiring (3). The remaining 4 wires perform the same function as 4 of the wires on the 6 pin plug (the 5th is a ground). You will need to work out how you will set it up to use the extras that you need.
The engine will run with many of the wires left unconnected but IIRC *most* of the wires (in the engine bay and in the cabin) were connected to their respective counterparts in the soarer to make all the accessories work.
For example things that were not connected were the CCO and CCO ground (temperature sensor on the rear of the factory cat)[most people don't run the factory cat, so the temp sensor does not get installed], EGW - exhaust temperature warning light for the dash, A/C lockup detecter (IIRC the soarer climate control does not use this).
Your dash will need the large speed sensor off the 1G auto box that produces 20 pulses per rev. It is installed where the speedo cable on the JZA attaches to the speedo drive output on the box. You will probably need to run extra cables to this speed sensor unless there are spares in the loom that are not used.Originally Posted by hcope86
The ABS is not a problem, just a minor complication. Your JZA70 box should have a speed sensor for the ABS computer, which then supplies the SP2 signal to the engine ECU. You can't directly connect the ABS speed sensor to the SP2 signal (SP2 is the primary speed sensor for shifting the auto - you didn't actually specify so I'm making this assumption).
It is Ok to use the JZA ABS computer to perform only the SP2 generating function - remove all the extra wires leaving only the gearbox speed sensor, power, ground and SP2 signal connections.
Good to see you're trying to have a go at the electricals yourself! May I suggest that the best way to learn would be to pull apart the half cut loom and trace ever wire that attaches to the engine loom. It will take a ton of time but it will give invaluable experience and understanding that can be applied to your future conversions. (I realise that you may have already discarded the rest of the half cut)...
