I know that 80s/90s 6 cylinder Toyota engines (except 2jz) use semi-sequential injection (injectors wired in pairs), but firing order?
An engineer at Ford in Melbourne mentioned on another forum that they'd noticed this and built up test Ford i6 engines with both orders (presumably requiring a custom crankshaft) to figure out why Toyota did it
Have done a fair amount of googling; every i6 I can think of, from every mfg (including Toyota G/M/JZ/FZ) seems to be 153624 order
I also saw one page that seemed to claim an unusual firing order for Ford Barra i6 but it seems to be an abomination and I suspect the page was wrong. They would have needed a very good reason to change it after decades of happily being like everyone else

vvti JZ engines use waste spark system, in which 1-6, 2-5 and 4-3 cylinders are combined. So I assume they're 153624, and so are their predecessors, those with distributor. Since the JZ originates from M series, I bet 5M, 7M etc etc are 153624 too
