    Default IS200 1G-FE n/a Tune

Hey guys i have an 04 model gxe-10r is200 with the 2L 1g-fe engine 6 speed as it stands everything is stock and it goes quite well however i just want to get a bit more out of it, everybody these days seems to be doing a JZ conversion or a turbo setup or both for that matter but tbh i quite like the sound of the 1g-fe and im looking at ideas for an n/a tune and maybe doing individual throttle bodies but sadly i am a very non mechanical person and know stuff all about it. I have this sort of setup done on 4a's ( Bens TA22) and on a 1uz (Ed's supra) so im pretty sure it can be done but wouldnt have a clue where to start.

Don't listen to those advicing 1jz
    go 1UZ
and even then you'll feel the car is slightly underpowered
But at least you'll be confident the conversion was worth the money. Which isn't remotely as with doing anything to the poor little 1G
I personally doubt any good results can be obtained with it, especially while staying n/a . Seems like Yamaha already did their best bumping another 20hp out of the old 1g version.

George is right, the poor little 2 litre 1G is a stout little engine, but if asked to pull anything heavier than a TA22 Celica around they struggle.. In the GZ20 Soarers the engines are a boat anchor, in the GS Crowns they are twice that. Toyota had a performance engine for the IS200's it is the 3S-GE BEAMS engine. The Jap cars with this engine were badged as Altezza's.

1UZ-FE engines are getting old, and to be truthful they will all be well down on the quoted 180Kw. I would expect 120Kw these days they are just old!

Turbocharging or supercharging the 1G might work, the results will be un inspiring, you may as well go the 2JZ-GTE and be done with it. Do it once do it right!

However any engine in an IS200 that is not the 3S-GE BEAMS just destroys the handling and balance of one of Toyota's best handling 4 door sedans!

    cheers Chuck.

They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

Why not swap in any GR series engine? 4GR-FSE out of an IS250 would be a cool upgrade if it bolts up alright, not too powerful to be stupid. 2.5L so not too much displacement increase.

If you want stupid power though, swap in a 2GR-FSE

4gr-fse sounds like stupid swap, best you can get with it is apparently same as factory IS250, which isn't too impressive performer. And you also get the infamous D4 direct injection system with its expensive injectors, fuel pump and the need to clean the intake part every so often.

Won't agree with "Z" UTE regarding the UZ engines being too old compared to some others. Freshest 2JZ-GTE you can ever get is from '2005 Aristo model code JZS161-BEPVZ. On the other hand, you can still get an 1UZ-FE off '2004 UZS175-CEAQK.

sell is200 and buy is300 probably end up cheaper then an engine conversion and then you have 2jzge at least as a base point

My vote is 2gr-fse, just cos it's different. They are pretty massif though.

ls2 would be lol-worthy. And sound awesome.

You mean 2GR-FSE, 2GR-FE is transverse.

Sell IS200, import a Mark X like Cuts' one. I was looking at them yesterday, auctions can start as low as 1,050,000JPY!

The Modellista one looks so god damn awesome too.

I wanna see what their boot space is like. I'm thinking once my Impreza is off lease I might import one.
