    Default toyota 1999 conquest conversion

    Hi everyone,

I drive a 1999 Toyota Conquest 1300, an I want to do a conversion to replace the 2E motor to a 4AG-ZE motor and change the intercooler to front mounted.

do you know if this conversion is possible? if not what is the alternative?
what would I need to change? like engine mounts ect,
what would a suitable gear box be and the compatible side shafts?

please guys any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

I doubt you'll have much luck here mate. In this country it would be nearly impossible to put an old 80's era engine into a '99 model car and be able to get it approved.

    hi Grant

you should have a tazz as the conquest ended in 1995 I stand to be corrected, yes it is possible I think you should rather refer to it as a ae93 on this site. It's been done plenty of times,20v are the most common in south Africa. You will need to modify the right engine mount, you can use the 4agze box if you can get the inner cups which is difficult to get in SA most people use the stock c52 or c56 gearbox which works fine. You will need a tank with an electric fuel pump or you can use an external elec fuel pump, you will need an after market ecu and with the 4agze and coil packs the ecu must be wasted spark. You will also need to upgrade your braking system and if you get the complete hubs with calipers etc from an rsi or rxi 20v you can just bolt the complete hubs on it fits.

yes it is a Tazz, thanks so much for your input, I recently went to a second hand engine retailer in the west rand and they had a 3s-ge (3rd gen if im not mistaken) for a similar price as the 4agze, and standard it will produce around 20 more kW, what are your thoughts on that conversion in terms of fitting it into the tazz?
