I have no actual first hand experience to go on. But i've been told before they are different. Keen to see what you find out here though. I'd like to get rid of my current noltec tops.
Did you look into S13 tops at all?
Cheers

G'day all,
i am currently trying to sort out adjustable strut tops for my 28.
after having spoken to different people i have been warned off the noltec units, and am looking at the T3 ones.
i have spoken to techno toy tuning in usa, they list strut tops for a 73 celica (im assuming 22). i asked him to measure the bolt spacing for me just to confirm (i assumed the were the same). anyway, he said "The bolts on the 73 Celica camber plates are on a 98mm equilateral triangle". which is different to my 28.
can anyone here confirm they are the same or different for me, or measure their 22?
would just like more info before i contact them again.
anyone know of other suppliers of adjustable strut tops to suit a 28?
Cheers
Stew

heya.....
yeah i did look at s13, which are apparently the same as skylines too. only prob is that they go for a fair bit second hand, and i didnt want to pay that much for a set that may need some modification. and without a set to actually test fit measurement are only measurements - but they are very close, within a couple mm.
dont spose ae86 are the same as 28 either......
Stew
AE86 are way different.. The 3 bolts on them are not spaced equally like the RA28's are.
Yeah '23/28 & '22 are definitely different. I can't remember the '23 spacing off the top of my head, but if T3 were interested in making up a few sets to suit I would be up for some. I'm sure the plates would require no other modification apart from the holes drilled in different spots.
do they list RA40(and seppo equivalents)?? cause RA40 are identical to 23/28. Anything 76-81 are identical strut fitment. Im also interested in the outcome of this, and am glad ive found out now that the noltec items dont have the best of reputations.

T3 may be able to supply them undrilled with the studs and the specs for drilling them. Would definitely be worth asking them.

Yeah maybe we get T3 to do a group buy on a custom RA23/8 top.. I've ordered from them before and they are always helpful. Like bigworm says its only going to be different bolt spacing.
Noltec main problem seems lack of adjustment. With mine dialed completely in I could get around 1.5 deg neg camber. I then put in some roll centre adjusters and ended up with almost neutral camber with the tops all the way in. I hacked them up cutting away a lot of metal from the plate in the middle that moves around to adjust camber and now can get 1.5 deg with the RCA's in place. But thats still not enough for track days.
Plus their pricing recently has shot through the roof. I got my noltec strut tops a few years ago for $300, now they are asking well over $400. Plus I had to drill out the holes in my stut tops a few mm. Which makes me think they are just selling S13 items or something.
the spacing of the bolt holes of an ra40 is 110mm equidistant
the spacing of s13 bolt holes is 107mm equidistant
measure your ta22 and you can compare
curiously if you were asking t3 for camber tops for your 28 then you were obviously going for a new set.
If this was the case, just get a new set that suits the s13 rather than the "73 celica set that has 98mm equidistant holes"
judging by the interest, see if it is cheaper to bring down 5 or 10 sets for a (hopefully) cheaper price and bob's your uncle.
Interesting.. I asked T3 if he did a set to suit a 23/28 and he said yes, so I have ordered them.
Should be interesting to see what arrives. Will keep you posted. If they don't fit keep an eye on the for sale section !
do you mind if i asked how much australian dollars you paid?
Roughly $240 with postage.

$248.11 to be perfectly precise!
Beats the $400 mentioned for Noltec ones, though time will tell whether they actually fit.
