    Sorry to hijack thread, but....

Has anyone tried fitting S13 struts into a RA23?

Yes I have searched and can't find anything.

im also pretty sure you will not pass rego if you do like some and cut and shut the s13 LCA to fit a pillowball into the crossmember...

but its up to you...i still think the cressida arms are the best bet.

i have done this and these are the parts that were used

    1. JZX81 LCA, opened up crossmember hole to 13mm to fit jzx81 LCA bolt, bigger than 86, if you use the smaller 86 bolt in the JZx81 lca the bolt doesn't fill the bush crush tube meaning the arm could (unlikely) move, you could change the bush but there was nothing on shelf at the time that fit and you are only opening the hole up like 1mm. holes need to be redrilled for castor rods but not for swaybar it bolts straight in.

    2. AE86 camber tops went straight onto the s13 coilovers no mods required

    3. RA60 rack ends, RA60 tierods. both need to be fitted to compensate for extra track gained. use nissan bluebird tierod ends (have to be pressed in at fulcrum etc)

    4. if using SR brakes you need to change to a 15/16ths master, if using CA brakes you can keep 13/16ths master. (i think ) yet to find a suitable master, s13 fits but may need a port blocked, researching this at the moment.

the JZX81 LCA is longer than an 86 one exact measurement unsure but its similar to a sigma arm. the s13 hub arrangement puts the strut on less of an angle , unlike the 86 strut, therefore you get the track increase without the excessively heavy negative camber.

you score a good upgrade in brakes, height adjustablity, increase in track and a lot more steering lock.

pm me if you want more info, i'll try to find some pics and get them up.

wdebody, i use o offset 7's on my car and at street camber levels maybe - 2? the wheel s are flush with the guards.

Just remember, when you use the longer control arms no matter what they are, you really have to be carefull with wheel width/offset. If you were to just run stock control arms with coil overs and camber tops, with the camber dialed in you can still run fairly wide wheels (depending on guards). Where as if you push the arm out, you lose the inside rim width due to the strut being pushed out further..

If you are just chasing wheel track, buy lower offset wheels.
But if you want the brakes, easy coilovers ect. go nuts

I will be doing the S13 set up on my next Celica build up.

S20v KE70, did you see any downside with your setup? i have seen a few people go back to standard stuff after using the S13 setup for a while, but i guess as with anything they could have just set it up wrong.

very interesting that you ran 0 offset wheels!

no downside for me at all, i think a lot of 86 drivers are toyota purists and don't like to cross breed!! i don't car i' m using heaps of nissan stuff in my hachi. the only drama is the right LCA a lot of people resort to the cut and shut arm which is not legal so to get around it they go back to toyota stuff.

The only down side is you can`t use Roll centre Spacer Blocks , to correct the Roll Centre on a lowered front Suspension ,

Also has anyone measured bump steer with this setup? As the height of the steering arm most likely would have changed.

hey guys just wondering who here has put an s13 crossmember and rack into a ae86 or ke70 im after some picks of where the motor sits in the engine bay? as i have a custom corolla crossmemeber or s13 crossmember to use either way its getting s13 coilovers but just wondering what the best option was, if i use the s13 rack i get powersteering and dont have to modify control arms

Also remember that in the NCOP you cant increase the track width by more than 25mm total (12.5mm each side). I have nfi if its an issue with the s13 into ae86 conversion though but there were mentions on the previous page about going for more front track.
