check the brake fluid level. The handbrake light is linked to that as well...
The other solution is to rip the bulb outta the dash... no more warning lights though![]()
Hi
The parkingbrakelight in the dash, the warninglight wont turn off even when handbrake is off. i have checked the swtich and it seems to be ok.
this problem started when i was riding around with bad pads, but now all the brakes is new all around, but still the warninglight is on all the time.
anyone have any suggestions for how to get it off?
Thanks for any answers![]()

doesnt it have something to do with the tension of the handbrake cable?
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are
Handbrake/warning lights are generaly earth seeking switch, after you check your brake fluid level check wires and make sure it's not earthing out some where other then the switch.
PS. Don't just pull the bloody globes out.
If it feels good "DO IT" Unless it harms others.(or upsets the RTA)

Hi again
Thanks for your answers.
I went outside and checked the fluid lever indicator now, and unhooked it and hooked it back on again, and now, its working again like its supposed to![]()
Thanks for all your help!
For anyone else who might come across this thread, its only Oz delivered cars that have separate warning lights for Park brake & brake hydraulic fluid level.
Pretty much everywhere else in the world (especially Japan) have same light for both.

I'm pretty sure the Aus MX83 has one for both?

Let me know if it doesn't, because I'm pretty sure it is an ADR requirement for both to be there.
How 2nd hand imports get through without having to do this mod, I've got no idea.
Just had confirmation that is DOES have 2 lights.
I must have been dealing with an idiot when he said he couldn't get his park brake light to turn off, only to find that the brake fluid was low.

Maybe now but there wasn't 2 lights on the AE92 days though I haven't seen 2 on my Yaris.Originally Posted by wagonist
You wont see the brake fluid light until the brake fluid is low.
Its not a light that comes on with the ignition.

MX83 doesnt have two. At least not mine anyway. But im starting to think more and more that i have a weird early non-Aus built but Jap imported one. Comes with a bunch more holes in the trans tunnel for crossmembers too.
